The Departmental Institute of Fine Arts was founded in January 1932 as Conservatory of Music, after 4 years into its work, the Departmental Assembly of Valle, by Ordinance No. 8 of 1936 and called departamentaliza Conservatory of Cali Departmental School of Fine Arts. His career has made her academic and cultural heritage of Valle del Cauca, his work has been directed towards the ethical and aesthetic values which arise from the academic programs of music at the Conservatory Antonio Maria Valencia, School of Visual Arts and Applied and School of Performing Arts, reinforcing its status as university, leaving a legacy of graduates professional copies.
Fine Arts has contributed to the development of the Department in the field of culture, forming professional artists featured in the region, with national and international projection , who have contributed to building our identity and belonging within the very conditions of diversity and interculturidad with professional groups such as the Bellas Artes Puppet (Titirindeba) and the Departmental Band of Valle del Cauca. Fine Arts is an educational institution that has made a significant training and revitalization of the arts and culture at local, regional and national efforts for 81 years. It is a unique institution of its kind, because in addition to major in art education, offering programs at all levels of the Colombian educational system.
