Loughborough University (LU) is an international pioneer in sports technology and engineering for over 20 years. The main ISR collaborators from LU are the Sports Technology Institute (STI) and the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS). STI develops cutting edge technologies which aim to significantly enhance the research, innovation and enterprise in sports and leisure sector throughout the region. SSEHS on the other hand specializes in research areas of behavioral medicine, biomedical sciences, sport science and social sciences and sport.
The main ISR collaborators from NTU are the School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) and Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS) Academic Group. MSE is one of the largest materials engineering institutions globally and will introduce technologies such as defense materials, clean energy, biomimetics and nanotechnologies to the sporting goods domain. MAE is a well-resourced mechanical engineering department as high caliber academic faculty, and significant expertise in design, manufacturing, robotics, aerodynamics and biomechanics. The PESS group specializes in biomechanics, blood chemistry, exercise physiology, psychomotor and pedagogy. It will provide additional support with their specialized laboratories for the sports science and medicine activities of ISR.
