Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology [IADT] was established on April 1st 1997. IADT is one of 13 publicly funded Institutes of Technology in Ireland, operating under the Institutes of Technology Act [2006]. IADT is designated as a higher education institution under the Higher Education Authority www.hea.ie and receives its funding through HEA.
Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology is located on Kill Avenue, about two kilometers west of Dun Laoghaire on the 46A/75 bus routes, close to Bakers Corner and Deansgrange. The former Dún Laoghaire College of Art and Design (now part of the Faculty of Film, Art and Creative Technologies at IADT) moved to the campus in the early 1980s. This move facilitated an expansion of facilities and led to the creation of IADT in 1997.
