Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education is a public university located in Thu Duc District, about 10 km north-east from downtown Ho Chi Minh City. The university was established on the basis of Technical Training Division, which was founded on 5 October 1962 in Saigon. On 21 September 1972, the school was renamed Nguyen Truong To Collegiate Center for Technical Education of Thu Duc (Trung tâm Cao đẳng Sư phạm Kỹ thuật Nguyễn Trường Tộ - Thủ Đức) and then was upgraded to Thu Duc University of Education (Trường Đại học Giáo dục Thủ Đức) in 1974.
