Pharmacognosy is the study of medicines derived from natural sources. It helps us in understanding the usage of plant derived medicines to cater the various diseases with no side effects. It also helps us in distinguishing the adulterated and pure herbal medicines. It seeks to embrace a complete understanding of commerce, botany, horticulture, chemistry, genetics, quality control and pharmacology of medicinal plants and other materials from natural sources.
Department of Pharmacology
Pharmacology deals with detailed study of medicines particularly their action on living beings, organs or tissues. The equipments and instruments are used largely to study medicines effects on whole animals and drug screening programs. The Pre-clinical aspects of various medicines are been studied in pharmacology arena.
