Govt Kamla Nehru Mahila Mahavidyalaya was originally established in 1964 by a managing body named Shastri Smarak Sanstha in Damoh. At that time, there were no institution of higher education in this region of Bundelkhand. Late Mr. R.P. Mody a renowned freedam fighter,took a pioneering role in establishment of this college.Earlier the college was running in a private rented house. In 1974 a major progress took place when the college developed and built its own building in civil ward area of the city. In the beginning it was purely a arts college. In october 1982 the college was taken by Higher Education Department of M.P. Govenment and since then it become a Government College. Then the allround progress and expansion is visible. At present , there are four faculties, Arts faculty, Science faculty, Pure Home Science and Commerece Faculty. In addition. BCA and other computer application courses are recently started after getting affliation from H.S. Gour University Sagar. At present more than 1400 girls are studing and about 24 college teachers are reporting their duties.At present Dr. G.P. CHOUDHARY is the principal of the college. The college has got an all round success and it has been recognized as a renowned college for uplifting Woman's education in this backword region of Bundelkhand.
