Datia is an ancient city that was founded by king Danta Vakra. The Present name of this of this city is named ofter the name of that king. This city is situated at national Highway no 75 & at railway track between Gwalior (75Km) and Jhansi (30Km). Govt. (P.G.) College Datia is an autonomous institution under the governance of M.P. Govt.Higher education was started is 1958. The institution got its PG standard in 1979-80 autonomy in 1995-96 and status leading college of District in 1999. It is also affiliated by UGC (Act 12B 2 F) geting UGC aid at different levels .NAAC graded this college as ‘B’ in 2006 and self study report is being submitted for review of the grade. This college is located in 10 acres having its hostel in 3 Acres. This is a leading college of Datia District hawing the facility of arts, Science, Commerce and law. There are 84 sanction posts of academic & Non academic staff where in about 12 are vacant during this session 2012-13 in about 1702 students are admitted at first semester of UG & PG Standard and the the total strength of regular students is about 4000. This college has also been declared as college of excellence in 2008-2009 for which it has got administrative & financial aid . For the review of autonomy UGC team has inspected this college in March 2012. This college has its automated compurised library whare the facility of enlisting is available. During this session M.P. Govt & Jiwaji University Gwalior has permitted to run six self financial courses i.e. BSc with Microbiology Bsc with Biotechnology, Bcom with Computer Application, BSc with Computer Science BA with functional English & MA in Geography. This college is the largest institution of co-education where all necessary facilities that reading room, class rooms, furniture and laboratories with all equipments. It has a computer lab with internet facility
