On August 2, 1948, the Durango Institute of Technology, was founded and started higher technological education in the province of Mexico, being the cornerstone of a system which to date has more than 250 institutions scattered throughout the national territory, which serve a school population of about 400,000 young Mexicans.
Thanks to the efforts of a great visionary, Mr. José Gutiérrez Osornio, was consolidated the dream of many Durango: the establishment of a technological institution of higher education, which over time, has exalted the name of Durango, thanks to the achieved prestige by its graduates, as well as its participation in all kinds of events, both academic, sporting and cultural as local, national and international level.
