The main campus is situated in Dumfries (the capital of the Region), the College has another campus in the town of Stranraer, 75 miles to the west of Dumfries."
The College was first established as Dumfries Technical College in George Street, Dumfriesin 1961. It had its origins in evening classes and a range of pre-vocational courses offered in the 1950’s at various locations in Dumfries.In the early 1970’s the College was relocated to site at Heathhall, (officially opened by HRH Princess Alexandra on 24th September 1973).The College changed its name in 1976 to Dumfries and Galloway College of Technology.In response to the need to provide Further Education in Wigtownshire, the modern, purpose built John Niven Campus (re-named as Stranraer Campus in 2001) was opened and admitted its first students in 1990.
