The Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam was established in accordance with Decision 82/2008/QD-TTg dated 23 June 2008 by the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on the basis of upgrading the Institute for International Relations (successor of the College for Foreign Affairs established in 1959). The Academy carries out strategic research in international relations and foreign policies; undergraduate and graduate training and retraining of Foreign Service personnel; serves as “think tank” in foreign policy for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Party and the State.
The Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) is continuing the traditions which were formed and developed over the past 50 years from the early diplomatic training classes (1956) to the Foreign Affairs University (1959) and the Institute of International Relations (1992). Today, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam has become a prestigious institution of international relations, a leading institution for research and advice on foreign policy and a unique institution for training foreign affairs officials from central to local levels.The Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam is grateful for the labor and enthusiasm of many precedent generations of teachers and staff. Its tradition and reputation are an immense pride.
