The Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education of Ensenada, Baja California, was created in 1973 by the federal government as part of the initiative to decentralize scientific activities and modernize the country.
CICESE belongs to the system of public research centers of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) and over more than three decades, has evolved into one of the leading scientific centers of Mexico. The CICESE is an institution of reference in national and international scientific context, academic excellence supports national development, training human resources and contributes to knowledge that can assist in solving problems affecting the social and economic environment in Mexico.
