The creation of the University dates back to the Lic. Alberto Trueba Urbina was elected governor of Campeche for the six years 1955-1961, because it saw clearly the fall of the state in education. For that reason, the August 7, 1957, in the section on "Education and Culture" of the Second Report of Government, expressed his desire to create a real University. With the founding of the University of Campeche, you try to systematize the educational process in the state, with the mission of promoting the growth of the state in all items.
Subsequently, on August 7, 1962 in the First Report of Lic. José Ortiz Ávila, he made clear its policy on education, and between 1963 and 1964, a feverish activity was developed to operate the facilities of the new Leading Studies. On August 7, 1964, in its Third Report of Government, Mr. Ortiz Avila informed the folksy town of the works in what is already outlined as the University City. On August 7, 1965 was formally inaugurated Southeast University and was established as such. The November 20, 1965, Governor Avila Ortiz, gave possession to the new directors of Southeast University.
