Aalborg University (abbreviated AAU) was established in 1974 and was called until 1994 Aalborg University Center (AUC).The university is located mainly in Aalborg, but has since 1995 had a department in Esbjerg, after a merger with the Engineering College of Esbjerg. In 2005 opened the university department in Copenhagen associated with the Engineering College of Copenhagen.
Aalborg University (AAU) had its beginnings as Aalborg University Center (AUC) in 1974, as a result of a series of mergers between several etablede institutions which made it possible to create a unified university with several faculties. As the university center was created in 1974 it had a humanities faculty, a faculty of social sciences and a technical-scientific faculty. In 1994 changed Aalborg University Center (AUC) name to Aalborg University (AAU). In 1994, Aalborg University have a faculty which was a health science faculty.
