“Ability is what you are capable of doing and motivation determines what you do.”- Lou Holtz.
It is very important in a student’s life to stay motivated in order to succeed in life. Sometimes, situations arise when we feel disappointed and it becomes hard for us to stay motivated. In times like this, we should not lose hope and work on ourselves a little bit harder so that we can succeed.
Motivated students are more excited to learn and participate. Some of the students always stay self-motivated with a natural love of learning. Enthusiasm plays a key role in student motivation.
Some of the ways you can stay motivated are:
Focusing on high-impact activities and staying focused to your course will help you to succeed. It is common for a student to do the simplest assignments first, by doing those that take more time and effort to accomplish- you will learn the most.
If you want to determine what your priorities are, rank the assignments of your course in order of their importance. Arrange your time and devote more time to your priorities and prioritise efficiently.
Creating new challenges for yourself and changing your approach each time can also help you to stay interested in what you are doing. Doing the same thing in a different way will increase your knowledge help you find new ways of doing it.
Writing down your goals will help you achieve them more efficiently because seeing your goals written in your own handwriting has a positive impact on your brain, which, in turn, encourages you to achieve them.
Surround yourself with those who want to see you succeed. You become like the 5 people you most spend your time with. Choose your company wisely. Your teachers, family or friends can guide you, they can help you develop new skills. Counselling can also help you with your planning the courses you wish to take up.
Don’t ever allow your failure to derail your focus. Worrying never helps. Everyone fails many times before achieving their goals. Failure is a part of everyone’s life but facing them and beating them is the biggest achievement for you. Keep reminding yourself that you can do better and don’t give up.
If you ever find yourself struggling with focus and motivation, take some time to consider what isn’t working and set some reasonable goals. Remember, everything you do- big or small is important and adds value to your life. Even the biggest work you do, if broken in small steps can help you do that easily and successfully.
