5 Things You Should Do To Be A Success In Any Field

5 things you should do to be a success in any field

It’s a tough task to be a success, but it’s even more painful to see yourself become a failure. The formula for success in any domain is tailor made i.e. what worked for someone else might not work for you. However, there are some common traits every successful person follows, here are 5 of them:

1.) Saying No To Procrastination:

The worst thing you can do to yourself is procrastinating, what you need to do for the day has to be done on that day. Postponing that work will result in an overload at the end of the month which eventually will lead to inefficiency or not doing that work at all. Successful people prioritize what they need to do and schedule their month in the most productive way. They make every second count, and greatness immerges from these small things which we tend to ignore.

2.) Reading:

“If we encounter a man with rare intellect, we should ask him what books he reads” –Ralph Waldo EmersonThis saying is somewhat true when it comes to being successful; an average CEO reads 100 books a year, that’s about 8 books a month. If all the leaders in the world can do it, why can’t you? Reading gives you a competitive edge among your rivals. Reading about self-help, mental health, and various topics gives you the knowledge to empower yourself with tools your rivals haven’t even touched yet. It shows that you try to be the best version of yourself every day. In short, reading always helps you to stay one step ahead.

3.) Cutting Time On Social Media:

Staying connected and updated about your friends and the next party in town is all well, but not when it is jeopardizing your valuable time and career. Our compulsive behavior of hooking up to social media platforms has made us narcissist to an extent that never has a generation taken pride in doing nothing for themselves than posting selfies. The internet eats so much of your productive time that internet addiction is now officially a recognized disease, but the people who have created these platforms realize this and most of them don’t use it quite too often. They know their whole business models are dependent on our theory of social validation and self-esteem, so they hire people to create different content and keep us hooked. Social media is a cause of suicides all over the world. It’s time we get a hold of ourselves and see it as a medium of communication and networking and not of leisure because once we start enjoying it, it starts to grow on us.

4.) Thinking Long Term:

Successful people tend to think in the long term. They do things now which they know is going to benefit in the long run. Most people fail because of their short term mentality and hedonistic behavior. If the result of their actions were immediate they wouldn’t at all. For example, if you were to eat a burger today resulting in an immediate weight gain of ten kilos tomorrow, would you eat a burger again? No right? These little toxic habits that we have to add up to a huge loss in the coming future. It is better to adopt things which might not benefit us now but would be profitable in the future.

5.) Working Smart, Instead of Working Hard:

Working hard in an old school philosophy now, in this fast changing world you need to adapt and be smart to survive. We need to know our strengths and especially our weaknesses so that we know what our forte is and we work towards it. Working hard on something we are really horrible at will kill our time that we have used smartly on our strengths. Successful people know their strengths and weakness and know exactly where they will be needed, they work so much on their strengths that it overshadows their weakness because no matter how hard we try reaching perfection is a waste of time.
