Founded by the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, whose members desired to put their resources to use for the good of society through education, Regis College was incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on February 12, 1927. Through its charter, the College was empowered from the beginning to grant all the degrees ordinarily conferred by colleges in the Commonwealth, including the doctorate. Regis College, through education in the arts, sciences, and professions, empowers women and men to challenge themselves academically, to serve and to lead. A Catholic college, Regis is a diverse and welcoming community guided by the values of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston.
