Devi Charan Baruah Girls’ College, the premier women’s college in Upper Assam, since its establishment in the year 1955 it has been striving sincerely to spread women's education in Assam. Established with the generous contributions of four illustrious sons of late Rai Bahadur Devicharan Baruah viz, Heramba Prasad Barua, Umacharan Barua, Deba Prasad Barua and Bishnu Prasad Barua, with an enrollment of only 56 students and 12 teachers the college has now fully blossomed with an enrolment of about 1800 students in both Arts and Science faculty. Over the years the college has produced many illustrious Women personalities including educationists, academicians, lawyers, politicians, literati, social activists and the like. During its 50 years of existence, the college has fully established itself as one of the premier Degree colleges in Assam. The Science faculty which was started in the year 1981 has also grown into a fully fledged one with well equipped laboratories. The College is affiliated to Assam Higher Secondary Education Council and Dibrugarh University.
