The game of thrones- chaos for seats, guidelines and subjects. (du edition.)

With the first list being released on 23rd June, the students this year have witnessed soaring cut-offs, sky-high expectations and disappointment.

While colleges have witnessed a drop in admissions, the second list (That releases on 1st July.) is expected to see a drop of almost 3%. Colleges are reported to play it safe in the second list. As per sources, about 25 percent seats were taken until Tuesday night. Of the 56,000 seats- admissions for 14,328 seats have been approved and 12,134 students have made fee payments.

There has been confusion over the best four aggregate, subject guidelines and glitches in the payment gateway.

The grievance cell of the University is flooded with students in tears, from Delhi and outstation.

Reportedly, Daulat Ram College has denied admissions to students in B.A.(Hons) History and B.A.(Hons) Political Science on grounds of already over-filling the seats beyond their prescribed number of 18.

There have been cases of nomenclature issues with students being denied admission to courses due to subjects being named differently in their State boards.

A student had her OBC certificate rejected on confusion over caste and religion. The student was quoted saying “In my OBC certificate the Tahsildar has filled ‘Islam Mapila’ both the religion and the caste. I have been told that it had to be just the caste when I went to get my documents verified at colleges.”

The University grievance cell has taken note of all such issues and is working towards resolving them. The issues over subject nomenclature have been forwarded to the concerned authorities.

It has been reported that the payment server had slowed down due to the traffic on the University website on Tuesday. Even though the window to pay the fee was until Thursday noon, the authorities have been considering extending it to midnight. However, the Dean of students’ welfare has advised students to complete the process by noon.

It is a no brainer that admissions this year are going to be difficult. But in the end, isn’t Delhi University worth the hustle?

AdmissionX wishes all DU aspirants good luck for their acceptance.

May the odds be in your favour!
